ALL NEW MARVEL NOW! Comic Book Review: Original Sin #0 Who Is The Watcher?

Original Sin

When I first heard about this comic coming out, I immediately went to JM and demanded to give me this issue for review. It wasn’t even on our agenda for the week. That’s how bad I wanted it ! And trust me I was not disappointed at all!

original-sin-0-b
Original Sin is the definition of what story telling really is. You follow a young Sam Alexander (aka NOVA) opening by speaking to his drunken dead beat father listen to his stories of pride of his glory days. After a few panels you get a real scene of the lads innocence. Even though he carries so much responsibility on his back he still has that inquisitive nature knowing the Watcher can never intervene; but still, he remains relentless in his quest of knowledge.

original-sin-0-a
Later you get really peek into the Watchers world; which isn’t really something that hasn’t really been explored. Accompanied by mind blowing visuals of everything Uatu has ever seen and is ever going to see is an array of alternative time lines and paradoxes. If you’re an “80’s baby” like me, every dream you had just came true reading about time! But above all else the story writes so well it just keeps you yearning for more!

Original-Sin-0-7

In my eyes, this comic is a perfect representation of why THE ALL NEW MARVEL Now! Has such a strong line of comics coming out. They stick to a well thought out format of how to tell a story, while keeping it so close to the father of comics Stan Lee’s vision , The Marvel Method; every comic is someone’s first comic. So, if you’re a lover of space dramas, twist-n-turns, and parallel universes this title is for you! That’s why this week im smashing out a first time 10/10 for this comic. Don’t just take my word for it! Go check it out yourself! Let me know what you think you can reach me on Instagram, Tweet me, or even drop me line on the MetalGeeks FB page!

The Porno Version of Quicksilver Wins

This may be old for some of you but for me;  I just discovered this gem. For the second time since The Avengers was released on the big screen, a Pornographic costume designer get “NAILS IT” (see what I did there) by making the Captain America XXX version of Quicksilver look more legit than Bryan Singer’s “Days of Future Past” version…hell, I’ll even go out on a limb and say it trumps Joss Whedon’s “Age of Ultron” version too. Lets compare the them:

tumblr_n0ceh98lsd1qjw1rjo3_1280__spanLame.QuicksilverCelebrity SightingsYup the Pornoguy wins. Major props to Director, Axel Braun. You even got The Falcon right…but I hope that big breasted blonde is The Dazzler in disguise. It only makes sense.

COMIC BOOK REVIEW: All New Marvel Now! X-Force #3

x-force-3As with all things new to me, I go in with empty impression and an open mind. Nothing has changed here with this read. I’m hardly going to go into detail due to the depressive display I’ve just read. Another button in the shirt of the ALL NEW MARVEL NOW recreation, or rather, the re-imagining of an old Black Ops team known as X-FORCE. Most notable characters such as, Cable and Psylocke return as part of this team completed with it’s accented companion Fantomex and “newbie” Marrow. It was a complicated read at times. It wasn’t until the 3rd or 4th page that I found out who was talking and who was arguing back and forth with the snide comments; Note to self…never talk crap about a mutant…especially when he/she is a psychic, you just get your speaking skills taken away at the bat of their eyelids). The meaningless banter of Marrow continued through a good chunk of the book. It became a challenge to want to continue.

Along with this team, a recently liberated weaponized mutant, named of MeMe,XFORCE2014003 follows X-Force via personal relocation device (designed by Dr. Nemesis) that resemble a quad-copter with a Zordon like face (MMPR GOOOOOOOOOO!) and the non-funny version robot temperament of Alpha. The team begins tracking to find the whereabouts of a man by the name of “Volga”; who is behind a massacre that was called “The Alexandria Incident”, where this non-mutant, Volga, used mutants as weapons to kill 3,000 innocent people. The cells failed to coincide with the text at times feeling you in a paradox of story emptiness; which became another negative aspect of the read.

Psylocke has a narrative every so pages as if she was attending an A.A. meeting, saying it’s been a certain amount of days since she last “weakened” a.k.a. dismembered someone and or played tic-tac-toe on someone’s torso with her sword. She is literally addicted to killing, which really isn’t a bad thing; but it goes against the legendary “Comic Book Code”. The killing scenes of her “weakened” were some of the best illustrations in the read, but were nowhere close to being enough to save it from disappointment. It tediously dragged on for most of the story. Aside from the killing scenes, there was maybe an honorable mention to Pantera in the form of Volga’s mantra, “Volga Display of Power.” See what they did there? I XFORCE2014003PG6did….or maybe I obsess about hidden messages that aren’t really intened the translation I gather, maybe they are only coincidences. Maybe the METAL GEEKS podcast will have writer, Si Spurrier, on to elaborate on this. Anyways, this Comic Book is certainly a pass and wouldn’t recommend it. It was kind of a slap in the face of the makeover that they gave Cable after all. He went from bad ass to…bleh, retired lost time travel pirate with metal arm rather than a peg leg. Until next time. Listen to metal. Be metal. And read more comics.

COMIC BOOK REVIEW: Supergirl #30 by Hamid Hojabr

GalleryComics_1900x900_20140416_SG_Cv30_531fb525417af5.33761553
To begin this review I am going on the record to say I have never once read a single issue of Supergirl! When I got asked to do this I wasn’t looking forward to doing so; however, that was my reaction to being handed this comic. A wise person once said, “You should never judge a book by its cover.” That is a hard to say when you see this something that I didn’t even know existed. Well, to put it simply; I was completely blown away. Immediately these unknown (to me) characters in their “Red Lantern” outfits which resembled the Green Lantern outfits; that got me hooked. I wanted to know more! So my friends take a journey into the rabbit hole that is “Red Daughter Of Krypton Supergirl We’re RED, You’re Dead!”

SG_30_4_534be9a57f50d5.70167212We start of in the planet, Grax, as chaos has broken with gun-fightins and explosions with a strong dialog. It seemed as though things were about to get very dark very quickly! Then BAM! Enter, Kara Zor-el, sporting this brand new Red Lantern outfit. As stated earlier, it was my first time seeing it. She looks totally badass and gives her a totally fresh new look and moving away from just a copy of Superman. The other members of the Red Lantern Corp are wearing similar outfits but Kara’s has been made to stand out a lot more. If you’re a first time Supergirl reader then soon as you seen her you get a brief, 4 paneled, background on her. You might find yourself going back to them to find out more about her. Moving on. The story covers some flash back, which is vital to moving forward, learning of her struggles in life, and what she must do know to fight any in-coming evil. The villains she has to prepare for happen a very close connection to likeness of MARVEL’S Skrull race. Now, going back to the battle at the beginning you can see Kara being pushed to use the Red rings powers. When she finally does you see her release that anger which make her a VERY powerful being. This raises the question, can she control that kind of power?

Having read this comic and it wrapping up nicely with a good ending it made me really exited to for reading the next SG_30_5_534be9aade9ad7.05516372part. In fact, for me; it has me looking back into other issues to learn a lot more about the Red Lanterns and checking the back issues of Supergirl to see why she has left earth behind. Overall, this 24 page comic has definitely left me wanting more. Be sure to pick up this copy! I give it a really strong 8/10! In-Fact, this issue might have turned me into a Supergirl man!

So for next time Geekazoids; I am Hamid. All ways remember to “Rock Out With Your Geek Out!”
